School Uniform

Bellingen High School asks all parents to send their children to school neatly dressed in correct uniform. Every student should take pride in their personal appearance and the wearing of school uniform is an important step in developing a good school spirit.

The following is acceptable school uniform for:

Girls: Years 7-10 White button front blouse with collar or polo shirt with collar (no advertisements)
Blue tartan skirt or royal blue shorts or denim shorts (of an acceptable length)
Dark blue slacks or blue jeans (of an acceptable length)
Dark blue jumper and/or school jacket (no hoodies)
Black shoes, white socks
Acceptable sports shoes

Girls: Years 11 & 12 White button front blouse with collar or polo shirt with collar (no advertisements)
Royal blue skirt or royal blue shorts or denim shorts (of an acceptable length)
Dark blue slacks or blue jeans (of an acceptable length)
Dark blue jumper and/or school jacket (no hoodies)
Black shoes, white socks
Acceptable sports shoes

Girls: Sports Day / PE Royal blue shorts (of an acceptable length)
Gold polo shirt with collar
Acceptable sport shoes with white socks
Hat

Boys: Years 7-12 White button front shirt with collar or polo shirt with collar (no advertisements)
Dark blue jumper and/or school jacket (no hoodies)
Grey shorts, slacks (single colour) or blue jeans (of an acceptable length)
Black shoes, white or grey socks, acceptable sports shoes

Boys: Sports Day /PE Royal blue shorts (single colour/of an acceptable length)
Gold polo shirt with collar
Acceptable sports shoes with blue and gold socks
Hat


The following are NOT acceptable dress standards for Bellingen High School:

Ripped clothing
Singlets, string shoulder tops as shirts, sleeveless or collarless shirts
Low cut necklines or armholes, blouses/shirts that are indecent in a school environment
Midriff tops
Slogans or pictures excepting brand names (as in small pocket sized logo)
No underwear as outerwear (eg petticoats)
Hoodies
Girls shorts that are too short
Sandals, crocs, thongs, high heels, ugg boots, slippers etc.

Students wearing unacceptable dress will be asked to change using school clothing or go home.


Safety:
It is a mandatory Department of Education and Training Policy that students carrying out practical activities using chemicals or equipment in schools wear enclosed leather footwear.

NB. There will be a complete overhaul of uniform in 2009 but all listed items will be consistent until the end of 2010.
