English

  • English in years 7-10 is taught in units of work. Each unit has a focus text or texts drawn from literary and not literary areas. Students explore the focus text and often other related texts through constructed tasks in reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing.
  • Students are encouraged to enter Debating, Public Speaking and Writing Competitions at which many excel.
  • In the Senior Years our classes are small in comparison with Junior classes. The size of senior classes enables students to develop close working relationships with their teachers in both English. Our H.S.C results have been consistently at or above State Average.
  • At School Certificate level results in the English Literacy exam have also been consistently above state average. All students are encouraged to strive for personal excellence by the dedicated and experienced staff.
  • English teachers organize excursions to plays and films to help students broaden their experiences of literature and the medium of film.
